ABOUT WOMEN IN DEFENSE
Turning Interest Into Action
Women In Defense (WID), a National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Affiliate, engages, cultivates and advances women in all aspects of national security. Incorporated in 1985, Women In Defense provides members a business environment for professional growth through strategic networking, education, and career development. This national alliance is comprised of women and men from industry and defense organizations of every size; all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces; Government agencies, academia, think tanks, associations, and professional services.
WID is committed to developing future STEM leaders, creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment, and providing a dynamic, forward-thinking community for emerging leaders. Through the WID Scholars program, women seeking post-bachelor’s degree scholarships are given the opportunity to further their educational objectives and career pursuits in the defense workforce through a demonstrated commitment to creating a more diverse national security marketplace.
Represented by 21 chapters, WID is in a period of accelerated growth and expansion. Membership is open to women and men whose primary professional activities relate to the national security of the United States and its allies.
